Leigh Merrill is a Dallas-based contemporary artist working primarily with photography and video. Using thousands of photographs gathered from different locations, she digitally constructs imaginary landscapes that initially appear believable but gradually reveal their fictional nature. Her work explores photographic perception, architecture, desire, simulation, and the ways cultural forces shape our experience of place. Merrill has exhibited internationally at Paris Photo, Centre de la photographie Genève, the Phoenix Art Museum, FotoFest, and the Fries Museum. Her work is held in the permanent collections of the Dallas Museum of Art, the Old Jail Art Center, and the Museum of Texas Tech University. She lives and works in Dallas and is represented by Liliana Bloch Gallery.
