“I like to make people believe extraordinary things.”
— Zak Loyd
Zak Loyd is a Dallas-based new media artist and educator whose practice spans video, installation, performance, artificial intelligence, internet-based art, crypto-art, and prose. His work examines the mystical implications of video art history alongside machine learning, internet culture, algorithmic systems, and post-truth politics. Often combining emerging technologies with references to spirituality, popular culture, and digital folklore, Loyd considers how images and information shape belief. His work has been presented at the Dallas Museum of Art, Museum of Contemporary Art Denver, Rhizome, Remote Control Gallery in Prague, and Mock Jungle in Bologna. He lives and works in Dallas and is represented by Liliana Bloch Gallery.
