“I create visual archives whose elements both help me to remember and allow me to forget.”
— Kathy Lovas
Kathy Lovas is a Dallas-based photographer and multidisciplinary artist whose work moves between photography, sculpture, installation, video, artist books, and found objects. Her practice is rooted in questions about what a photograph is and how images, objects, and personal archives shape memory. Drawing from family photographs, inherited furniture, clothing, roadside signs, and everyday events, Lovas creates layered works that explore indexicality, the archive, and the frame. She has exhibited throughout Texas and has been an important part of Dallas contemporary art for more than three decades. Lovas lives and works in Dallas and is represented by Liliana Bloch Gallery.
