Jaime Acker is a Dallas-based contemporary artist whose practice spans photography, video, portraiture, and performance. Working within the Dallas art community, Acker examines gender, power, desire, and the ways identity is constructed and performed. His work uses portraiture and the body to question conventional forms of representation while creating space for genderqueer and feminist identities.
Acker earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Illinois Chicago and a Master of Fine Arts from Southern Methodist University in Dallas. His work has been presented in exhibitions and screenings throughout Dallas and internationally, including 500X Gallery, Beefhaus Gallery, Dallas Medianale 2, Plush Gallery, Arts Libris in Barcelona, the Berlin Porn Film Festival, the San Francisco Porn Film Festival, and the Vienna Porn Film Festival.
He has completed artist residencies at the Institut für Alles Mögliche and Picture Berlin in Berlin, Germany. Acker has also been nominated for the Contemporary Art Dealers of Dallas inaugural FUNd Grant and the Artpace International Artist-in-Residence program in San Antonio. His work has been featured in publications including Suboart Magazine and Peachfuzz Magazine.
Acker lives and works in Dallas and is represented by Liliana Bloch Gallery. Through its exhibitions and artist program, the gallery contributes to Dallas contemporary art by presenting regional, national, and international artists across photography, painting, sculpture, video, installation, and performance.
