Alicia Eggert

Biography

Alicia Eggert is an interdisciplinary artist whose work focuses on the relationship between language, image and time. She earned an MFA in sculpture/Dimensional Studies from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University. Her artwork has been exhibited nationally internationally, at venues such as the CAFA Art Museum in Beijing; the Triennale Design Museum in Milan; SIGGRAPH Asia in Hong Kong; ISEA2012 at the Albuquerque Museum of Art and History; and Sculpture By the Sea in Sydney, Australia. Her work has been featured in The Washington Post, The Huffington Post, BBC Future, and Hyperallergic, and in printed publications such as Typoholic: Material Types in Design, Foundations of Digital Art & Design, and Elements and Principles of 4D Art & Design.

Alicia has received numerous grants and awards, including a Direct Artist Grant from the Harpo Foundation, an Individual Artist Fellowship from the Maine Arts Commission, an Artist Microgrant from the Nasher Sculpture Center, and a TED2013 Fellowship. She has been an artist in residence at Sculpture Space in Utica, New York, the Tides Institute and Museum of Art in Eastport, Maine, and at True/False Film Festival in Columbia, Missouri. Alicia has held academic positions at Alfred University and Bowdoin College, and is currently an Assistant Professor of Studio Art at the University of North Texas in Denton. She lives and works in Denton with her husband, Mike Fleming, and their son, Zephyr.
