The Frick Arts Foundation has named the 10 Austin artists to receive its annual cash awards for 2026.
Jasna Boudard, Bieke Campos, Irene June Chau, Ania Davila, Maya Gauvin, Swathi Konduri, Chantal Lesley, Dana Perrotti, Rachel Salcido, and Hannah Spector have each received $1,250 in unrestricted funds.
There is no application process for the awards. Instead, the awardees were selected by a jury of Austin arts professionals: Jill Schroeder, former owner/director of grayDUCK gallery, which recently closed after a decade; Savannah Diaz, Ivester Contemporary Gallery Managing Director; and 2024 Frick Arts awardee Ariana Gomez.
The nonprofit Frick Arts Foundation was established in 2024 by philanthropists Laurie Frick, Mark Frick, and Kevin Ivester of Ivester Contemporary gallery, to support emerging contemporary artists in Austin.
In a press release, Ms. Diaz said, “I love that when Laurie Frick started this, as an artist she understood how much a little encouragement and direct support can mean to an artist. The early years as an artist develops and tries to show their work can be incredibly tough. This award finds artists at just that moment.”
The press release describes the awards in part as “emotional encouragement,” a sentiment echoed by Ms. Gomez: “Being on the jury was almost as much fun as winning the award. It was such a surprise and a huge boost at a moment when I really needed it. Incredibly rewarding to help give that gift to new winners this year.”
