LOOK
LOOK is an enlarged glitchéd photograph printed on vinyl, a medium commonly used for public signage. Snapped by me from a portable roadside sign, and altered with the iPhone app Glitché, my sign challenges the viewer on several levels:
Viewed from a distance, the letters are seen as beautiful shapes and colors.
At the same time, the text is intellectually interpreted as an invitation to look at the art works presented by Liliana Bloch Gallery.
Viewed closeup, the shapes and colors become slightly blurred and pixelated; thereby, speaking to the phenomenon of photography and the process of digital printing.
LOOK is part of my career-long investigation into the ontology of photography.
Freely moving between photography, sculpture, and installation, my projects are based on narratives about current or past events, and often include familiar objects and words. All of my projects constitute an ongoing exploration of photographic indexicality, the archive, and the frame.
